Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Banana Flower In An Ewer by Zou Zhilin was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 27,500.00 (€ 25,217.79). Admittedly, works by Zou Zhilin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calligraphy And Landscape in September 2013 with an auction result of USD 149,000.00 (€ 110,084.96).
