Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
When the work Bamboo and Rocks by Zheng Xie was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2017, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 1,500,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at HKD 9,460,000.00 (€ 1,018,512.36). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Zheng Xie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bamboo And Rock, which sold at auction in September 2014 for USD 2,629,000.00 (€ 2,081,881.53).
Kunstwerk zum Sechsfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Bamboo and Rocks von Zheng Xie im November 2017 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 1.500.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 9.460.000,00 (€ 1.018.512,36) mehr als sechsmal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Zheng Xie mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Bamboo And Rock beobachtet, die im September 2014 für USD 2.629.000,00 (€ 2.081.881,53) versteigert wurde.
