Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Landscape After Wu Zhen by Zhang Zongcang was worth USD 286,000.00 (€ 254,493.68) to a buyer in September 2016. This price was achieved in the auction The Roy and Marilyn Papp Collection of Chinese Paintings at Sothebys in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 60,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zhang Zongcang achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Parasolhall In Autumn in April 2017 with an auction result of HKD 49,560,000.00 (€ 5,849,854.06).
