Artwork auctioned at seven times the upper estimate price
The work Landscape after Ni Zan’s Secluded Cottage in Sparse Woods by Zhang Zongcang was worth HKD 2,250,000.00 (€ 250,177.20) to a buyer in November 2021. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 300,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zhang Zongcang achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Parasolhall In Autumn in April 2017 with an auction result of HKD 49,560,000.00 (€ 5,849,854.06).
