In May 2011 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy, which included the work Seven-character Couplet in Seal Script Calligraphy by Zhang Zhidong. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 56,250.00 (€ 5,031.82), 61% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zhang Zhidong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy Couplet In Xingshu in October 2019 with an auction result of HKD 1,125,000.00 (€ 128,585.84).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 61 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2011 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy durch, in der auch die Arbeit Seven-character Couplet in Seal Script Calligraphy von Zhang Zhidong zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 56.250,00 (€ 5.031,82) und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Zhang Zhidong erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Xingshu im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.125.000,00 (€ 128.585,84).
