Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Pink Hand by Zhang Jianguo was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in October 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 50,000.00 – 80,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 43,750.00 (€ 4,845.67). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Zhang Jianguo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Galatea and Those Legs, which sold at auction in May 2010 for HKD 175,000.00 (€ 18,180.53).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Pink Hand von Zhang Jianguo im Oktober 2020 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 50.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 43.750,00 (€ 4.845,67) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Zhang Jianguo mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Galatea and Those Legs beobachtet, die im Mai 2010 für HKD 175.000,00 (€ 18.180,53) versteigert wurde.
