In April 2014 POLY in Hong Kong held the auction Classical Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, which included the work Scholar'S Retreat Alongside The Spring After The Li Tang-Style by Zhang Hong. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 690,000.00 (€ 64,174.48), 38% above the upper estimate. Other works by Zhang Hong have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of HKD 604,800.00 (€ 73,124.72) in April last year for the work Studio by a Secluded Stream.
