This artwork by Cheng Zhang achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September 2016. In the Fine Chinese Paintings auction, the work Verdant Mountains sold for USD 8,750.00 (€ 7,786.08) - well above the upper estimate of USD 4,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cheng Zhang - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Squirrels And Grapes, which sold at auction in November 2013 for HKD 275,000.00 (€ 26,073.06).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Cheng Zhang erzielte im September 2016 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Chinese Paintings wurde die Arbeit Verdant Mountains für USD 8.750,00 (€ 7.786,08) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 4.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Cheng Zhang mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Squirrels And Grapes beobachtet, die im November 2013 für HKD 275.000,00 (€ 26.073,06) versteigert wurde.
