Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
The work Various Subjects After Ancient Artists by Zhai Dakun was worth HKD 437,500.00 (€ 46,163.24) to a buyer in April 2018. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Paintings at Sothebys in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 70,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Zhai Dakun - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Scenery Of Wonderlands, which sold at auction in October 2018 for HKD 1,000,000.00 (€ 112,601.48).
