The work Seven-character Couplet in Running Script by Zeng Guoquan was worth HKD 162,500.00 (€ 16,114.88) to a buyer in May 2013. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 15,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Zeng Guoquan; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Calligraphy Couplet In Xingshu sold at auction in April 2015 with the realized price of HKD 200,000.00 (€ 23,114.14).
