Auction result well in line with expectations
In April last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Ntobza Mkhwanazi, BB Section, Umlazi township, Durban (from Faces and Phases) by Zanele Muholi. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,048.00 (€ 5,739.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Zanele Muholi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Alakhe in December last year with an auction result of GBP 35,280.00 (€ 39,827.68).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Ntobza Mkhwanazi, BB Section, Umlazi township, Durban (from Faces and Phases) von Zanele Muholi zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 6.048,00 (€ 5.739,77) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Zanele Muholi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Alakhe im Dezember letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 35.280,00 (€ 39.827,68).
