The work MaID III, Philadelphia from Somnyama Ngonyama by Zanele Muholi was sold in the Photographs auction at Phillips in London in November last year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 27,720.00 (€ 32,121.15), 54% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Zanele Muholi; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Alakhe sold at auction in December last year with the realized price of GBP 35,280.00 (€ 39,827.68).

Die Arbeit MaID III, Philadelphia from Somnyama Ngonyama von Zanele Muholi wurde im November letzten Jahres in der Auktion Photographs bei Phillips in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 27.720,00 (€ 32.121,15) und damit 54% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Zanele Muholi; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Alakhe im Dezember letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 35.280,00 (€ 39.827,68).
