Showa era (1926-1989), dated 1966 and 1977
Two large horizontal prints: the first titled Hoori kurosu-zan (Mount of the Holy Cross) and dated Senkyuhyaku-rokujuroku-nen saku (work of 1966) along the left margin, the English title printed along the bottom left edge within the image Mt. Holy Cross, Vail, Colorado, signed in Roman script Toshi Yoshida in pencil along the bottom right margin, 35.5cm x 55.5cm (13 15/16in x 21 13/16in); the second titled Snowing, edition number 43/600, dated 1977, signed in Roman script Toshi Yoshida in pencil along the bottom margin, depicting a winding procession of Gentoo Penguins during a blizzard, 31cm x 64cm (12 3/16in x 25¼in). Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Unknown by Yoshida Toshi was auctioned at Bonhams in London in May this year. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,024.00 (€ 1,191.43). Admittedly, works by Yoshida Toshi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Five woodblock prints in May 2021 with an auction result of GBP 5,292.00 (€ 6,157.36).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Unknown von Yoshida Toshi kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in London zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 1.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 1.024,00 (€ 1.191,43) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Yoshida Toshi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Five woodblock prints im Mai 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.292,00 (€ 6.157,36).
