Showa era (1926-1989), dated 1955 and 1973
Two tate-e prints of different sizes; the first an oban dated and titled Senkyuhyaku-gojugo-nen saku, Yukiguni (Snow Country, Work of 1955) along the left margin, the English title printed along the bottom left margin Snow Country, signed in Roman script Toshi Yoshida in pencil along the bottom right margin, with a seal Yoshida Toshi within the image, with a Jikoku seal, 39.5cm x 27cm (15 9/16in x 10 5/8in); the second of a large format, dated and titled Senkyuhyaku-nanajusan-nen saku, Asupin nite (Aspen, Work of 1973) along the left margin, the English title printed along the bottom left margin Aspen, signed in Roman script Toshi Yoshida in pencil along the bottom right margin, with further signature Toshi and a seal Yoshida in Chinese characters within the image, 54.6cm x 36.2cm (21½in x 14¼in). Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Unknown by Yoshida Toshi was auctioned at Bonhams in London in May this year. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,024.00 (€ 1,191.43). Admittedly, works by Yoshida Toshi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Five woodblock prints in May 2021 with an auction result of GBP 5,292.00 (€ 6,157.36).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Unknown von Yoshida Toshi kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in London zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 1.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 1.024,00 (€ 1.191,43) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Yoshida Toshi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Five woodblock prints im Mai 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.292,00 (€ 6.157,36).
