Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Aristocrat in Blue by Yinka Shonibare was sold in the Modern and Contemporary African Art auction at Sothebys in London in October 2021. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,890.00 (€ 2,239.14) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yinka Shonibare achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Red Lantern Kid in December 2018 with an auction result of USD 325,000.00 (€ 283,694.13).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Aristocrat in Blue von Yinka Shonibare wurde im Oktober 2021 in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary African Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.890,00 (€ 2.239,14) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Yinka Shonibare erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Red Lantern Kid im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 325.000,00 (€ 283.694,13).
