This artwork by Yinka Shonibare achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March last year. In the Modern & Contemporary African Art | and CCA Lagos Benefit Auction auction, the work Dreamscape sold for GBP 2,772.00 (€ 3,286.52) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yinka Shonibare achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Red Lantern Kid in December 2018 with an auction result of USD 325,000.00 (€ 283,694.13).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 85 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Yinka Shonibare erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art | and CCA Lagos Benefit Auction wurde die Arbeit Dreamscape für GBP 2.772,00 (€ 3.286,52) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Yinka Shonibare erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Red Lantern Kid im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 325.000,00 (€ 283.694,13).
