Auction result well in line with expectations
In March last year Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art | and CCA Lagos Benefit Auction, which included the work Aristocrat in Blue by Yinka Shonibare. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,142.00 (€ 2,539.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yinka Shonibare achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Red Lantern Kid in December 2018 with an auction result of USD 325,000.00 (€ 283,694.13).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art | and CCA Lagos Benefit Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Aristocrat in Blue von Yinka Shonibare zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.142,00 (€ 2.539,58) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Yinka Shonibare erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Red Lantern Kid im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 325.000,00 (€ 283.694,13).
