This artwork by Yang Borun achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in New York in March last year. In the The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, Part V The Online Sale auction, the work Landscapes after Old Masters, 1889 sold for USD 8,287.50 (€ 7,470.93) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Yang Borun; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Pine Gove At The Bay sold at auction in May 2016 with the realized price of HKD 81,250.00 (€ 9,391.00).
