A surimono depicting a court lady on an engawa admiring a tree in blossom, signed Yanagawa, very good impresion with gold and silver-coloured metallic powders, good colours and condition, very slight rubbing at lower edges

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Unknown by Yanagawa Shigenobu was sold in the JapaneseArt and Design Including Netsuke from the Estate of His Royal Highness The Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, KG.,KT.,KP auction at Christies in London in July 2006. The price achieved of GBP 720.00 (€ 1,054.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Admittedly, works by Yanagawa Shigenobu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The complete set of twelve shunga prints from the series Willow Storm (Yanagi no Arashi) in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,234.50).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 720,00 (€ 1.054,00) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben worden.
