Surimono with metallic embellishments and gauffrage, poems by Shochikuen, Kirokuan Mitsumaro and Shakuyakutei, signed Yanagawa Shigenobu and sealed Yanagawa--very good impression, generally good color, a few light stains and rubbing

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March 2003 Christies in New York held the auction AN IMPORTANT COLLECTION OF JAPANESE PRINTS, which included the work Kotoba no hana (Poem flowers), number 2 from the series Hana awase (Collected flowers) by Yanagawa Shigenobu. Here, the upper estimate of USD 1,500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 1,553.50 (€ 1,425.23). Admittedly, works by Yanagawa Shigenobu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The complete set of twelve shunga prints from the series Willow Storm (Yanagi no Arashi) in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,234.50).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im März 2003 führte Christies in New York die Auktion AN IMPORTANT COLLECTION OF JAPANESE PRINTS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Kotoba no hana (Poem flowers), number 2 from the series Hana awase (Collected flowers) von Yanagawa Shigenobu zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 1.500,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 1.553,50 (€ 1.425,23) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Yanagawa Shigenobu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The complete set of twelve shunga prints from the series Willow Storm (Yanagi no Arashi) im Juli 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.234,50).
