Auction result well in line with expectations
In March last year Bonhams in New York held the auction The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, Part IV, which included the work Immortal Image (Posthumous Portrait of Gao Yong's Wife) by Xu Gu. The price achieved of USD 225,312.50 (€ 203,112.32) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Xu Gu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Chrysanthemums And Peaches, which sold at auction in October 2017 for HKD 6,700,000.00 (€ 737,414.15).
