This artwork by Xu Bing achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2009. In the Asian Contemporary Art (Day Sale) auction, the work Square Word: New English Calligraphy sold for HKD 275,000.00 (€ 23,659.46) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Xu Bing achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Living Word in April 2008 with an auction result of HKD 7,607,500.00 (€ 626,954.17).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Xu Bing erzielte im November 2009 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Asian Contemporary Art (Day Sale) wurde die Arbeit Square Word: New English Calligraphy für HKD 275.000,00 (€ 23.659,46) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 120.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Xu Bing erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Living Word im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 7.607.500,00 (€ 626.954,17).
