Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Revisit A Once Familiar Place (Painted In 2002) by Xu Bing was sold in the Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art auction at China Guardian in Hong Kong in April 2021. The price achieved of HKD 2,006,000.00 (€ 214,773.73) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 1,300,000.00 – 2,300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Xu Bing - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Living Word, which sold at auction in April 2008 for HKD 7,607,500.00 (€ 626,954.17).

Die Arbeit Revisit A Once Familiar Place (Painted In 2002) von Xu Bing wurde im April 2021 in der Auktion Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art bei China Guardian in Hong Kong versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 2.006.000,00 (€ 214.773,73) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 1.300.000,00 – 2.300.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Xu Bing mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Living Word beobachtet, die im April 2008 für HKD 7.607.500,00 (€ 626.954,17) versteigert wurde.
