In December 2020 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings, which included the work Landscript - The Drawing from the Project of Helsinki-Himalaya Exchange by Xu Bing. The result of HKD 1,500,000.00 (€ 158,217.50) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of HKD 1,500,000.00 – 2,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Xu Bing - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Living Word, which sold at auction in April 2008 for HKD 7,607,500.00 (€ 626,954.17).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Dezember 2020 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Landscript - The Drawing from the Project of Helsinki-Himalaya Exchange von Xu Bing zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von HKD 1.500.000,00 (€ 158.217,50) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 1.500.000,00 – 2.000.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Xu Bing mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Living Word beobachtet, die im April 2008 für HKD 7.607.500,00 (€ 626.954,17) versteigert wurde.
