In July 2013 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours, which included the work View of Naples with the Castel dell' Ovo, the Certosa di San Martino and the Castel Nuovo by Xavier Della Gatta. The result of GBP 8,000.00 (€ 9,141.39) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Xavier Della Gatta achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Naples, Vue Du Palais Royal De Portici, Avec Le Vésuve En Éruption; Naples, Vue Du Port De Portici in June 2009 with an auction result of EUR 138,750.00.
