The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,642.02), 17% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Xavier Della Gatta achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Naples, Vue Du Palais Royal De Portici, Avec Le Vésuve En Éruption; Naples, Vue Du Port De Portici in June 2009 with an auction result of EUR 138,750.00.

Die Arbeit The Gulf of Pozzuoli seen from the West von Xavier Della Gatta wurde im November 2017 in der Auktion The Lure of Naples: A Private Collection of Italian Views bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 9.375,00 (€ 10.642,02) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Xavier Della Gatta erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Naples, Vue Du Palais Royal De Portici, Avec Le Vésuve En Éruption; Naples, Vue Du Port De Portici im Juni 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 138.750,00.
