Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
When the work Calligraphy In Cursive Script by Wu Zhongqi was auctioned at China Guardian in Hong Kong in October 2019, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 8,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at HKD 53,100.00 (€ 6,069.25). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Wu Zhongqi; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Calligraphy sold at auction in April 2018 with the realized price of HKD 100,300.00 (€ 10,583.25).
Kunstwerk zum Sechsfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Calligraphy In Cursive Script von Wu Zhongqi im Oktober 2019 bei China Guardian in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 8.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 53.100,00 (€ 6.069,25) mehr als sechsmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Wu Zhongqi; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Calligraphy im April 2018 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 100.300,00 (€ 10.583,25).
