Artwork auctioned at 13 times the upper estimate price
When the work Landscape by Wu Shantao was auctioned at China Guardian in October 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 12,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than 13 times as high at HKD 156,000.00 (€ 17,352.84). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wu Shantao - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Five-Character Couplet In Running Script, which sold at auction in October 2015 for HKD 377,600.00 (€ 44,113.75).
Kunstwerk zum 13-fachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Landscape von Wu Shantao im Oktober 2021 bei China Guardian versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 12.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 156.000,00 (€ 17.352,84) mehr als 13-mal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Wu Shantao mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Five-Character Couplet In Running Script beobachtet, die im Oktober 2015 für HKD 377.600,00 (€ 44.113,75) versteigert wurde.
