Description
WU HAO (1930-2017) Summer in the Mountain Scroll, mounted for framing, ink on paper 111 x 48 cm. (43 3 ⁄ 4 x 18 7 ⁄ 8 in.) Inscribed and signed, with five seals of the artist Dated summer, jiazi year (1984) NOTE: Wu Hao, also known as Yu, Chiyuan, Tui Jushi, and Tui Yuan Ci Ke, was born in Fushan, Guangdong Province. In 1948, he began studying Western art at the Guangdong Fine Art Institution and was employed under Ding Yanyong and Zhao Shao’ang. In 1954, he became a student of Xie Zhiliu. Wu has deep knowledge in Song and Yuan paintings. He was a close friend of Rong Geng and would often discuss art with him. Besides painting, Wu is also skilled in calligraphy, poetry, and seal carving.
Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Summer in the Mountain by Wu Hao was sold in the Summer Reverie: Chinese Paintings Online auction at Christies in New York in August this year. Here, the upper estimate of HKD 30,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for HKD 30,240.00 (€ 3,557.15). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wu Hao achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Landscape in April this year with an auction result of HKD 60,000.00 (€ 61,271.74).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Summer in the Mountain von Wu Hao wurde im August diesen Jahres in der Auktion Summer Reverie: Chinese Paintings Online bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von HKD 30.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für HKD 30.240,00 (€ 3.557,15) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wu Hao erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Landscape im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 60.000,00 (€ 61.271,74).
