Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When this work without title by Wonder Buhle Mbambo was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 80,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at HKD 327,600.00 (€ 35,074.71). Admittedly, works by Wonder Buhle Mbambo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Hearts in October 2021 with an auction result of USD 175,000.00 (€ 151,488.92).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit ohne Titel von Wonder Buhle Mbambo im April 2021 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 80.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 327.600,00 (€ 35.074,71) mehr als viermal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wonder Buhle Mbambo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Hearts im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 175.000,00 (€ 151.488,92).
