This artwork by William Webb achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2014. In the The Raglan Collection: Wellington, Waterloo and The Crimea And Works of Art from the Collection of the Marquesses of Londonderry auction, the work Landscape with five horses: the Duke of Wellington's 'Copenhagen'; Sir John Water's 'Bitter'; the Duke of Wellington's chestnut mare and white Arabian; and Lord FitzRoy Somerset's bay mare ridden at Waterloo sold for GBP 56,250.00 (€ 69, Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Webb; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Favorite Hunters of Richard William Penn, 1st Earl Howe (1796-1870), with Gopsall Hall, Leicestershire in the background sold at auction in October 2011 with the realized price of USD 98,500.00 (€ 70,624.51).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von William Webb erzielte im Mai 2014 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Raglan Collection: Wellington, Waterloo and The Crimea And Works of Art from the Collection of the Marquesses of Londonderry wurde die Arbeit Landscape with five horses: the Duke of Wellington's 'Copenhagen'; Sir John Water's 'Bitter'; the Duke of Wellington's chestnut mare and white Arabian; and Lord FitzRoy Somerset's bay mare ridden at Waterloo für GBP 56.250,00 (€ 69.133,06) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 20.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von William Webb; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Favorite Hunters of Richard William Penn, 1st Earl Howe (1796-1870), with Gopsall Hall, Leicestershire in the background im Oktober 2011 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 98.500,00 (€ 70.624,51).
