Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A chestnut hunter in a stable by William Webb was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2004. The price achieved of GBP 1,075.50 (€ 1,600.67) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Webb achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Favorite Hunters of Richard William Penn, 1st Earl Howe (1796-1870), with Gopsall Hall, Leicestershire in the background in October 2011 with an auction result of USD 98,500.00 (€ 70,624.51).
