This artwork by William Strutt achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Melbourne in November 2005. In the AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS auction, the work Study For The Hero In Black Thursday sold for AUD 31,070.00 (€ 19,485.29) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 12,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Strutt; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot British A Sound Investment sold at auction in April 2008 with the realized price of AUD 48,000.00 (€ 29,041.11).
