Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2010 Christies in London held the auction The Collection of the Late John Appleby: A Channel Island Treasure House, which included the work A coastal courtship by William Shayer Snr.. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,493.75) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Shayer Snr. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The itinerant rabbit seller in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 36,425.00 (€ 57,963.65).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Collection of the Late John Appleby: A Channel Island Treasure House durch, in der auch die Arbeit A coastal courtship von William Shayer Snr. zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.200,00 – 1.800,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.250,00 (€ 1.493,75) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Shayer Snr. erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The itinerant rabbit seller im November 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 36.425,00 (€ 57.963,65).
