Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Punters (The Punt) 40.6 x 50.8 cm. (16 x 20 in.) by William Roberts was sold in the Modern British and Irish Art auction at Bonhams in London in November last year. It changed hands for a price of GBP 176,700.00 (€ 204,754.95) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Roberts have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Chess Players in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 1,161,250.00 (€ 1,446,866.41).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Punters (The Punt) 40.6 x 50.8 cm. (16 x 20 in.) von William Roberts wurde im November letzten Jahres in der Auktion Modern British and Irish Art bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 176.700,00 (€ 204.754,95) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 120.000,00 – 180.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Roberts auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Chess Players im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.161.250,00 (€ 1.446.866,41).
