It achieved a price of GBP 60,480.00 (€ 70,474.92), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 73%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Roberts achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Chess Players in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 1,161,250.00 (€ 1,446,866.41).

Die Arbeit Soldier's Dream von William Roberts wurde im Juni 2021 in der Auktion Modern & Post War British Art Day Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 60.480,00 (€ 70.474,92) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 73%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Roberts erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Chess Players im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.161.250,00 (€ 1.446.866,41).
