Sold at the upper estimate price
The work Second Defence System by William Roberts was sold in the Modern British and Irish Art Day Sale auction at Christies in London in October 2021. The auction ended at the price of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 35,541.90), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Roberts achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Chess Players in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 1,161,250.00 (€ 1,446,866.41).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Second Defence System von William Roberts wurde im Oktober 2021 in der Auktion Modern British and Irish Art Day Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 30.000,00 (€ 35.541,90) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Roberts erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Chess Players im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.161.250,00 (€ 1.446.866,41).
