This artwork by William Roberts achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in June last year. In the Modern British and Irish Art auction, the work Sam Rabin versus Black Eagle sold for GBP 57,000.00 (€ 66,217.79) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Roberts achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Chess Players in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 1,161,250.00 (€ 1,446,866.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 90 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von William Roberts erzielte im Juni letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern British and Irish Art wurde die Arbeit Sam Rabin versus Black Eagle für GBP 57.000,00 (€ 66.217,79) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Roberts erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Chess Players im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.161.250,00 (€ 1.446.866,41).
