In October 2021 Christies in London held the auction Modern British and Irish Art Day Sale, which included the work Going to Swim by William Roberts. The auction ended at the price of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,770.95), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Roberts achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Chess Players in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 1,161,250.00 (€ 1,446,866.41).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Oktober 2021 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern British and Irish Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Going to Swim von William Roberts zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 15.000,00 (€ 17.770,95) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Roberts erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Chess Players im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.161.250,00 (€ 1.446.866,41).
