Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by William Roberts achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in June 2021. In the Modern British and Irish Art auction, the work A London Family's First Visit to the Country sold for GBP 21,500.00 (€ 25,053.09) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Roberts achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Chess Players in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 1,161,250.00 (€ 1,446,866.41).
