Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The New Earrings by William Powell Frith was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2019. The price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 13,724.17) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Powell Frith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Derby Day: the 'first study' for the celebrated painting in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 505,250.00 (€ 605,108.24).
