Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2021 a collector was able to acquire the work The crossing sweeper by William Powell Frith for GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,863.54). This price was achieved in the auction British and European Art at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Powell Frith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Derby Day: the 'first study' for the celebrated painting in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 505,250.00 (€ 605,108.24).
