Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An English Merry-Making A Hundred Years Ago by William Powell Frith was sold in the British and European Art auction at Bonhams in March this year. The price achieved of GBP 3,570.00 (€ 4,061.56) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Powell Frith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Derby Day: the 'first study' for the celebrated painting in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 505,250.00 (€ 605,108.24).
