Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Miss Carlysle and her Dog by William Owen was auctioned at Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts in November last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 956.25 (€ 926.33). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Owen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Ernest Augustus I (1771-1851), Duke of Cumberland and later King of Hanover (1837-1851), full-length, in the uniform of a British General Officer of Hussars, with the blue sash and breast star of the Order of the Garter in October 2015 with an auction result of GBP 62,500.00 (€ 87,421.89).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Ernest Augustus I (1771-1851), Duke of Cumberland and later King of Hanover (1837-1851), full-length, in the uniform of a British General Officer of Hussars, with the blue sash and breast star of the Order of the Garter im Oktober 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 62.500,00 (€ 87.421,89).
