Upper estimate price exceeded by 75 %.
This artwork by William Owen achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in June 2008. In the Important British Paintings auction, the work Portraits Of The Townley Family sold for GBP 61,250.00 (€ 77,422.05) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 35,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Owen; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait of Ernest Augustus I (1771-1851), Duke of Cumberland and later King of Hanover (1837-1851), full-length, in the uniform of a British General Officer of Hussars, with the blue sash and breast star of the Order of the Garter sold at auction in October 2015 with the realized price of GBP 62,500.00 (€ 87,421.89).

In der Auktion Important British Paintings wurde die Arbeit Portraits Of The Townley Family für GBP 61.250,00 (€ 77.422,05) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 35.000,00.
