In November 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work Still Life With Violin by William Michael Harnett for USD 500,000.00 (€ 453,761.68). This price was achieved in the auction American Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 600,000.00 – 800,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, Still Life With Violin is the most expensive artwork by William Michael Harnett that we have observed at auction so far.
