Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January last year Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century American Art, which included the work Eleme Figs and Newspaper by William Michael Harnett. The »bidding war« ended at USD 93,750.00 (€ 83,615.77), 17% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by William Michael Harnett have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Still Life With Violin in November 2019 with an auction result of USD 500,000.00 (€ 453,761.68).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Januar letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion 19th Century American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Eleme Figs and Newspaper von William Michael Harnett zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 93.750,00 (€ 83.615,77) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Michael Harnett auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Still Life With Violin im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 500.000,00 (€ 453.761,68).
