This artwork by William Michael Harnett achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May 2007. In the Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, the work Latakia sold for USD 504,000.00 (€ 374,637.63) - well above the upper estimate of USD 240,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Michael Harnett; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Still Life With Violin sold at auction in November 2019 with the realized price of USD 500,000.00 (€ 453,761.68).
