Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2007 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work The Beach at Chatham by William McGregor Paxton. The »bidding war« ended at USD 432,000.00 (€ 321,117.97), 23% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William McGregor Paxton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Letter, which sold at auction in April 2002 for USD 834,500.00 (€ 927,016.22).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2007 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Beach at Chatham von William McGregor Paxton zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 432.000,00 (€ 321.117,97) und damit 23% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von William McGregor Paxton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Letter beobachtet, die im April 2002 für USD 834.500,00 (€ 927.016,22) versteigert wurde.
