Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Little Russian by William McGregor Paxton was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 8,125.00 (€ 6,975.45). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William McGregor Paxton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Letter in April 2002 with an auction result of USD 834,500.00 (€ 927,016.22).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Little Russian von William McGregor Paxton im Oktober 2017 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 8.125,00 (€ 6.975,45) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William McGregor Paxton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Letter im April 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 834.500,00 (€ 927.016,22).
